After high school, I struggled with my weight for 55 years. I gained weight, went on a diet, lost some of it, then gained more back than I lost. Over the years, I estimate that I gained and lost over 1,000 pounds. I weighed 175 pounds on graduation day. On November 4, 2008, I had triple bypass surgery with the widowmaker one of the arteries at 97% clogged. I weighed 285 pounds that day.
I saw the light, or so I thought. I went on a weight loss and exercise regimen and lost 80 pounds. Then it all went haywire. I started gaining weight again and didn’t know why. Since I was doing it myself, I didn’t have anyone to consult, so I couldn’t figure out how to fix it. I eventually gained back up to 287 pounds.
For the next several years, I cruised along at 287 pounds and gave up any thought of losing the weight. That is until until January 2021. I called up HMR Weight Loss at Oklahoma Heart Hospital. I started their Decision Free program and today I weigh 195 pounds. I stopped losing weight on instruction of my cardiologist because she said, “You would look too skinny any lighter.” The pictures below are before and after. Now I have to get in a weight program to work that baby bump into some bicep and glut muscle.
Hello Debra. I just dropped by to see who I remembered and I recall our correspondence from a few years ago. I hope this finds you well and prospering.
Just dropped by to check out who I remembered. I saw your name and remembered you well. I see your pieces on the news and weather from time to time. Good to see you’re still kicking.

Happy Birthday Jeff. I have some great memories of you when we were on the JV football team. Were we as horrible as I remember?
I’ve spent my entire work life in customer service. I did not attend college, as was planned, but instead began raising a family right after graduation. I’ve been a Division Manager for Woolco and spent 33 years as a Service Manager for Ricoh American. I finished up my work life as a Technical Specialist advising coordinators about the technical aspects of generators and answering their questions. I’m semi retired now. Working two days a week and managing the after hours call-ins for a
