Art makes us smart. We had a great arts program at Memorial when we were there. What I learned there helped propel me forward through two art degrees and a 30 year career as an art professor at a fairly prestigious art college in central Ohio, The Columbus College of Art and Design. The Arts are a boon to society...Instead of cutting the arts whenever there is an economic turn down what if we saw the arts as a lubricating element to both culture and economy...The arts make us smarter, we think more clearly, we think deeper and we hold our gaze longer on wisdom when we've paid attention to a work of art...art ennobles us, it lifts us up from within, it causes us to see our selves at new levels. Don't just support the arts, that really doesn't accomplish much, but rather support your local artists. They are the ones who do all the work.

Yep, we got here last April...but have finally brought all our belongings we were able to grab on our way out a few weeks back end of Oct. So we are now here. I'm putting a studio together in the back yard...and helping Mom get her house in order.
