Children: Jessica born 1979 living in the L.A. CA area and Blake born 1983 (living in the KC MO area).

Grandson More…born April 2017

After Memorial, I attended the University of Arizona and graduated with my B.S. and M.S. degrees in Rehab Counseling specializing in Counseling with Deaf/HH individuals and their families. I married my college sweetheart in 1975 and our work moved us to Omaha,NE, El Paso, TX, Big Spring, TX, Olathe, KS, Denver, CO, back to Kansas, and then to Tucson, AZ where we have come full circle and are residing currently. Somewhere during these years, we started a family. Daughter Jessica and son Blake were born and are now successful and happy adult "kids". Last August (2014) Jessica blessed us also when found and married wonderful man, Steven. In turn we gained a thoughtful, kind, loving, and generous son-in-law.
Currently I am "retired" and living with my husband of 43 years in Tucson, AZ. My mother passed away in 2012 after 10+ years of dealing with dementia/Alzheimer's and we were blessed to be able to move both her and my father from FL (at my father's request) to Tucson in 2006 so that we could all be closer during their remaining years. What a gift. My father passed away in 8 months later in 2007. He knew. I had lost my only sib/younger brother Kim to cancer in 2002 and he is buried in Tulsa which he considered "home". In 2013 and 2016 we buried my in laws.
Latest update since April 2017, I became a grandma which I thought would NEVER be in the cards! Coming to this game late, but better late than never! :-)

School Story:

The "Chargerettes", Surfs (synchronized swimming) and sports/games saved my sanity when I was at Memorial trying to keep my head above water with doing homework. I also belonged to some "Home Ec" club. When I went to our 20th H.S. reunion, I was struck thinking that Memorial had not changed that much. The computers and other machines seemed to be antiquated at the time, but I had a great time at our reunion. I recall blushing from embarrassment when my husband Bern went up to our former principal, Ken Bays, shook his hand and said, "HI Mr. Bays! You remember me??" Poor Mr. Bays - he was trying so hard to remember. I finally said, "Don't pay attention to him - he didn't even go to school here." Mr. Bays did remember me, though! Since I have moved so much since Memorial, I have not had the opportunity to be back in Oklahoma much since then except for my brother's funeral in 2002.

Hi Donna! I didn’t know that I had another classmate residing here in Tucson! After Memorial my father was stationed here to Davis Monthan AFB and then deployed to 3 tours in Vietnam so I went to UofA. Then I got married and we moved around and moved back to Tucson in 2005 and am now retired also living in the NW part of Tucson near Mt. View H.S. Did we have any classes together at Memorial that you remember? I can’t! Haha. Planning to go to the 50th reunion next June?

Hi Gary! I see you updated your profile recently. I know where Merritt Island, FL is! I grew up inTampa and either my husband or a girlfriend and I go through there each Fall when I go back to FL and stay at my parents’ timeshare condo for a week of sun and fun in Cocoa Beach. I saw that you also used to live in Midland? Midland, TX? Hubby and I were in that area in the early 80’s to help establish the Southwest Collegiate Institute for the Deaf (SWCID) in Big Spring. Small world!

I just happened upon a Facebook Page (public) for Memorial H.S. Alumni this week: Classmate Steve Lassiter posted that our 50th (!) class reunion would be on June 5, 2020 at a downtown venue and more info would be forthcoming. Any other local classmates know about this? Would love to consider coming if I have enough notice to come from Arizona. :-)

I am so sorry to hear of Debbie’s passing and struggles with cancer. I remember her fondly at Memorial through Pep Club, yelling the loudest cheering the Chargers at games, her Spirit and her Pep. But best of all her smile. Gone too soon. My condolences to her family.
